What characterizes Printify
Printify is a European print-on-demand platform, which means that it offers over 1,300 products that are customizable. It was founded in Latvia, in 2015. In 2024, it merged with Printful but both platforms still operate as separate brands.
The product range includes apparel, accessories, home décor, and lifestyle products. These items come from production partners (or suppliers) who print, pack and ship orders directly to customers.
This makes Printify’s service similar to dropshipping platforms, but the fact that you can customize all products really sets it apart from competitors. Online sellers can easily add these products to their online store and start selling without having to buy inventory, manage production or handle logistics.
How Printify works
Online sellers can create an account on Printify very easily. They just need to use their email address and create a password. After that, they are shown a dashboard with a personalized overview of products. When we first created an account, we were shown top sellers and products for ‘fast sellers’, like mugs, wall calendars and shirts. After selecting a couple of products to sell, the dashboard will start showing similar products and categories.

Making your design
After selecting a product, you will need to click on the button ‘start designing’, and an editor will open up. There are several decoration methods you can use, like embroidery or DTG. With the latter, pigmented ware-based inks are used, which can accommodate more precise and detailed designs. For embroidery, the platform recommends using designs with full shapes that are spaced from each other (instead of overlapping, or being close together).
You can add text and a wide range of graphics to your desings. It is also possible to use the AI image generator
You can add text by uploading your own font, or by using one of the wide range of Printify’s fonts. The platform also has a wide range of graphics to choose from, in many themes like plants, pets, retro vibes, patterns, and much more. You can also use the AI image generator that comes with the editor to create your own design.
After creating a product with your design, it will be added to your store on the platform. Printify can be integrated with ecommerce software like Shopify, but also with marketplaces like Amazon or Etsy. This means that the product with your design will be shown in your online store. When your customer orders it, the supplier on Printify will produce it and ship it to them.

Print providers
After making a sale, your design and product will be printed by one of the platform’s suppliers, or print providers as Printify calls it. They will produce, pack and ship the order. Because of Printify’s network model, users can compare multiple print providers, products, prices, locations and fulfillment options.
Printify has a large network of print providers in Europe
Many of the suppliers are based in the United States, but the platform also has an extensive European network. It works with print providers in countries like the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, and the United Kingdom.
Printify says that it works with more than 100 production and fulfillment facilities globally. This gives online sellers access to a broad international network, which makes shipping fast and easy. If wanted, sellers can select local providers to help reduce international shipping time and costs.
Pricing
The Printify platform is free to use, but it also has a premium plan that gives users some additional benefits. Sellers can compare product and fulfillment prices across different providers, and set their own retail prices and profit margins. With a free account, sellers can create 5 different stores with unlimited product designs.
The platform is free to use, but a premium account will give merchants added benefits
The premium plan costs 39 dollars per month (or 25 dollars when billed yearly). With a premium account, sellers get up to 33 percent discount on product costs and custom branding. They can also receive one-on-one mentorship and support. With these accounts, sellers can create up to 10 different stores and manage their orders with Printify Connect.
The platform also offers a paid plan for enterprises, for merchants with significant daily sales. It works with custom pricing for this plan, and companies get more additional discounts on all products.

Target audience
Printify serves entrepreneurs, creators, online retailers, established ecommerce brands, and businesses that want to sell customized products without holding inventory. The platform supports both first-time sellers and merchants processing higher order volumes.
Printify serves first-time sellers, as well as merchants with high order volumes
There are no minimum order quantities or minimum order values. This means that sellers can have a single item produced and fulfilled, or create a large order at once.
Pros and cons of using Printify
Printify makes print-on-demand selling very simple. With its large product range, as well as its many print providers and extensive international network, online sellers are spoilt for choice. They can easily make their own design and select a supplier of their choosing.
Another advantage of Printify is the fact that as a seller, you do not have to hold inventory. This reduces the risk of buying too much stock beforehand, and it also lowers the threshold of trying out online selling.
The fact that Printify’s suppliers handle the production, packing and shipping also makes up the biggest disadvantage of the platform. As a seller, you do not influence or control this process. However, when a product arrives damaged or a shipment goes missing, your online store is the one who is responsible and where customers turn to. Handling complaints can be more difficult, because you will need to contact your supplier before being able to help your customer.
Our review: 8
We rate Printify an 8 out of 10. It is a big platform, with a wide range of products and suppliers. It has a lot of options and tools to help you create a unique design. This makes selling unique and custom products a lot easier. The platform also offers an accessible way to try out online selling.
The platform works with an international network of suppliers, which makes shipping in Europe relatively fast (when you choose a supplier based in Europe). It also has the option to add branding to your products and shipment, which is not something that all platforms do.
Some sellers might dislike the fact that they do not influence the production and shipping process. However, ordering some sample products can give a seller more confidence before adding the product to their online store.
